My 18th: All eyes on me

I've been dreaming for this party for as long as I can remember and because of that I had the best prepared-but-still-other-things-didn't-turn-out-well party. A lot of things happened that day that wasn't suppose to happen but I wont share them all, just this one.When we were on our way to the venue to check the set up and to meet my coordinator we got stuck at traffic in C5, we felt and heard a loud bang at the back of our van. The car behind us or the woman inside the car was too busy minding her own business that she can't take her eyes off her freaking phone. She got out of her car and she said that she'll pay for the damage that has been done. But to make the long story short, nabangga kami.

When we finally arrived at the venue, we did the final touches and head quickly to the hotel. Nowadays, when hotels know that you're checking in because you're preparing for a debut party they will put extra charges. But my amazing and awesome coordinator/ninang talked to the bellboy and made a deal. He agreed that we'll pay him 500 pesos if he kept the secret that we are getting ready for the party and some of my relatives will stay in overnight  (because 2 people are only allowed to stay in. I know, it sucks). After we settled our business with the bellboy, my preparation for the party took place and I am really excited.

I was really annoyed and mad at the photographer; I'm actually not talking and listening to him. He keeps on making me do poses who are really alien for me and it is so old school. He even made me do that "look up and point at the ceiling" shit. Plus! He thinks that my gown has this butterfly effect but it doesn't so he made his assistant do this 

At dahil sa kaartehan nya, I don't smile and I always look at the camera with all of my mataray looks. And every time he asks me to smile, I give him a big sarcastic smile. Next pose: He made me "go inside my dress" without actually wearing it while I do an Indian sit on the bed. He again made the butterfly shit effect and when I got up, I tripped then I stepped on the right cloth (as me and my designer call it but for kuyang photographer I should call it "wings") and the dress is ruined. Good thing we can fix it with pins. I was really pissed the whole night. But still, at the end of the night, I thanked him. 

I was really nervous when I was waiting at the stairs for the host to call me in. I wonder if my friends came, who came and who did not? Then my other coordinator said that the guys in my 18 roses is not yet complete so I picked 3 or 4 guys from the guest instead. It made me sad because they said that they'll come. By the time they finally called me in, the feeling was priceless. Definitely one for the books. I can see some vacant seats but it didn't bother me that much that time because I was so busy smiling and trying not to forget that "all eyes on you" feeling.

The program was continuous to make sure that we are not wasting time. That means I didn't have any special number even though I wanted one, but we don't have all the time in the world. So we have the 18 roses as the opening program then the most awaited dinner followed by the 18 wishes/candles and lastly the 18 gifts/treasures. As you can see at the pictures below, my hairstyle and makeup "slightly" changed because they want me to look....older I guess. Or they simply want me to look mature for the night! Haha!

During the 18 gifts, when it was my friend Wynona's turn already I was really nervous because I said that I want my crush in a box for my birthday. This friend of mine can do anything and everything people, that's why I'm kinda excited and really nervous at the same time. Unfortunately my crush couldn't go because it is far more complicated and it is a whole new story, Wynona explained. So she/they (my block mates) came up with something creative and really funny. 

At first, my friend JB starts dancing a cover of shine bright like a diamond by Rihanna and I am really happy as you can see at the back. 

Then I saw someone standing beside me with a mask on. And I know who is the guy behind the mask, it was my friend Samjay. And it wasn't just any face on the mask, IT WAS MY CRUSH'S PICTURE GLUED ON A CARDBOARD. And it was hilarious because of the way they cut the eyes. 

Jb sat down beside me and we started singing for a sec then the next thing I know Samjay or should I say Zach is dancing in front of me. (Zach is a dancer kase so yeah) I was really happy because of their effort; they made a way just so I can say that Zach came that night.

And just as I thought that there are no more surprises, I was wrong. And because all of my college friends are artist, some of them made a painting for me. These friends of mine are some of the people that I really look up to, so imagine how thankful I am. The explanation for the painting is really funny; they said that the other half of the pizza (the one with the galaxy background) symbolizes my "wild side."

As we finished for that night's program, It's time for the most awaited speech. I was pretty confident because I have my speech on a paper and read it 10 times or more everyday before the party. I started reading the first part and start thanking people then I realized that something is wrong. The words are jumbled so I ended saying nonsense but I think no one actually heard it because I was crying. I decided to not to read my letter nalang and started looking table by table to remind me some of the people I still have to thank. I told you guys from the very start that some things didn't happen the way it should be. But I survived.

 

After my speech, we watched the video compilation of the greetings from my relatives abroad.

My party finished with a bang because my dad has kick ass dj friends who rocked my party with their sick beats and remixes and other stuff that I don't know anymore. I spend my time dancing with my friends and watching them being walwal and all the whole night.

Thank you everyone for making my 18th birthday a really unforgettable celebration. I was stressed during the preparation and got stuck between "itutuloy ko paba? Parang wag nalang" and "I've been dreaming about this ever since so I'm G!" but this celebration proved that I made the right decision. For all the gifts, wishes, hugs and kisses that you guys gave me that night I'm gonna return them all to you someday and one day. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much Thank you! :)
